From Gaza… Don’t Look for Statistics, Listen to a Heartbeat

I am Mohammed Abu Taha.. from Gaza City, where the scent of the sea mingles with the scent of history and hope. In this corner of the world, where our existence is reduced to news headlines, I search for our lost humanity amidst the clamor of politics and double standards.

This space is not just a blog; it is a witness to this era. From here, I do not want to present you with abstract suffering; I want to tell you a story. The story of a people uprooted from their paradise, who lived through displacement, and were then reborn under siege to face discrimination and the inversion of truth. I will narrate to you a Palestinian history—not from the history books of the victors, but from the memories of grandmothers, the faces of children, and the groans of the walls.

Yet, at the very heart of this narrative, you will find hope itself. For in my world, hope does not come from the resolutions of the United Nations, but from your words. From every comment I receive, every message of support, every hand extended from behind the screens saying, “You are not alone.” This interaction is my sun in the darkness of power outages, and the fuel for my persistence to write.

I will write in spite of everything.. in spite of the bread and water lines that steal my time, in spite of the internet cuts that sever me from the world, and in spite of the difficulty to concentrate when the sound of sirens is the soundtrack of life. I will write because Gaza’s voice must be heard, my bag carries nothing but my words, and I promise you I will deliver them where they need to go.
