How I Built Gazaform from Scratch (The Founding Story)
By: Mohammed Ahmad Abu Taha — Founder & Engineer
1. The idea
I saw families in Gaza needing urgent help, while platforms like GoFundMe were often unavailable or hard to settle into our region.
I wanted an alternative that works with crypto — USDT and BNB on a transparent chain — so support reaches people without a middleman holding the funds, and any donor can verify the transfer on-chain.
That became Gazaform, also known as Solidarity Basket (سلة التكافل): family pages, free-amount donations, and wallets tied to a smart contract.
2. Planning
I started on paper: who receives the donation? How is a family registered? What does the donor see before and after sending?
I chose BNB Smart Chain for lower fees, fast confirmation, and familiar wallet support, with USDT as a unit donors already understand.
I sketched the flows (register, family page, donate, withdraw) and set a rule: security and transparency first — no custodial pot outside the contract.
3. Engineering — the smart contract
I wrote the smart contract myself in Solidity. I reviewed common failure modes (reentrancy, bad permissions, withdraw logic) and used trusted libraries such as OpenZeppelin where they fit, with basic flow testing before deploy.
The goal was clear: a donation lands on the family’s on-chain path, and withdrawals follow explicit roles — without an intermediary holding the balance.
4. Challenges — UI and wallets
The front end (HTML/JS) was the next hard part: a simple mobile experience under unstable networks, full Arabic and RTL support, and MetaMask (and other wallets) via deep links on phones.
I handled rejects, wrong network, and missing wallet with clear messages instead of silent failures. Every layer — from the page to the contract — I built and iterate on myself as the project’s engineer.
Closing
This platform is the result of individual work from idea to code. If you want to support families or inspect on-chain transparency, visit the platform, donate, or browse family pages.
